We Are Costumes
Reviving the soul of the Galician empanada. Craftsmen of bread dough, guardians of time and flavour
Going back to our roots is our only "Costume"
In a world that moves too fast, we’ve chosen to stop the clock. “Costumes” is our way of paying tribute to the traditions of our homeland, Galicia.
We were born with a clear mission: to rescue the authentic Galician empanada from industrial standardisation. We refuse to accept that empanada should mean industrial puff pastry or unrecognisable fillings.
For us, empanada is culture, it’s family and, above all, it’s bread dough, fresh onion slowly sweated in our bakery and, crucially, that hand-sealed edge that gives our empanadas their characteristic thin border — so valued and appreciated by our customers.
What sets us apart: the craft of artisan baking
We’re not an assembly line — we’re an artisan bakery. Behind every empanada that leaves our workshop are skilled hands and traditional processes that respect the raw ingredients.
Bread Dough, as tradition demands
Our dough is thin, crispy and flavourful. We seal each one by hand, giving them that unmistakable rustic look that proves their artisan origin.
Onion, the secret to our juiciness
We peel, sweat and caramelise fresh onion daily in our bakery. It's the base of our sofrito, slow-cooked to achieve that sweet, mellow flavour that infuses the filling.
Ingredients with provenance
We use additive-free flour and select the finest produce from Galicia's sea and land: top-quality seafood, fish and meat.
Clean Label
No artificial preservatives or colourings. Just real food.
Technology to preserve the essence
How do we get an artisan empanada anywhere in the world without losing quality?
We combine the wisdom of Galician grandmothers with the best preservation technology. We use flash-freezing immediately after preparation. We stop time so that when you or your customer bake it, the result is exactly the same as if it had just come out of our oven in Galicia.
It’s our way of exporting “morriña” (Galician homesickness): 3 days shelf life after baking, with all the flavour intact.
From Galicia to your table
Behind Costumes is a team passionate about food and committed to excellence. We work every day so that hospitality professionals, retailers and end consumers can enjoy a taste of Galician history — easy to prepare and delicious to eat.
